In a recent episode of the "Politics War Room" podcast, Democratic strategist James Carville delved into the reasons behind the Republican Party's unwavering support for Israel over the Palestinians. Carville suggested that racism played a significant role in the GOP's stance, arguing that its members are more unified in their support for Israel because its citizens are perceived as "whiter" than the Palestinians.

During a question-and-answer segment on the podcast, Carville responded to a guest question about how a party that has allegedly embraced the "alt-right" and "neo-Nazis" can position itself as the "most pro-Israel party." Carville attributed this disparity to the underlying racism within the party, asserting that it is driven by misogyny and racism rather than any actual policy prescriptions.

"It's really about the misogyny and the racism that drives the thing, and we got to recognize that. It's not about any policy prescription," Carville stated, highlighting the GOP's preference for supporting the "whiter" Jewish population over the Palestinians.

The strategist also discussed the focus of pro-Palestinian protesters on disrupting Democratic Party events, as opposed to Republican gatherings where support for Israel is stronger. Carville shared insights from a pro-Palestinian activist, who explained that they target Democrats under the assumption that they would be more open-minded. However, they believe influencing Republicans would be futile.

Carville expressed frustration over the electoral challenges faced by the Democratic Party in states like Michigan due to the presence of a significant Muslim population. He criticized the logic of hurting the party that has the best chance of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian issue satisfactorily, rather than influencing the Republicans.

Earlier this year, Carville cautioned against pro-Palestinian voter protests during the Michigan Democratic primary against the Biden/Harris administration's support for Israel in its clash with Hamas. Carville anticipated that the uncommitted vote would receive considerable attention, emphasizing the potential complications it posed.

The Democratic strategist's remarks shed light on the complex dynamics behind the contrasting support for Israel between the Republican and Democratic Parties. As discussions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continue, grappling with the role of racism and party politics remains an ongoing topic of debate.
