In a resounding victory, the Democratic National Convention (DNC) emerged as the clear ratings frontrunner, attracting an average of 26.2 million viewers across 15 television networks, according to Nielsen. The final evening of the convention proved to be the most captivating, with viewership peaking as Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her address from Chicago. The event garnered an average of 28.9 million viewers, solidifying the DNC's rating dominance over the Republican convention.

Among the television networks, MSNBC claimed the top spot, drawing in the highest number of viewers with 6.5 million, closely followed by CNN with 3.9 million viewers. MSNBC celebrated this as their most-watched DNC night in its history. On the Republican side, the final evening of their National Convention in Milwaukee garnered 25.38 million viewers. However, the audience surged to 28.4 million viewers during former President Donald Trump's speech.

Notably, Nielsen does not include ratings from streaming platforms like YouTube or Twitch. Therefore, the DNC's television ratings could have potentially been even higher, considering the popularity of streaming among viewers.

One factor that may have contributed to the DNC's strong ratings was the widespread speculation surrounding Beyoncé's potential appearance or performance. Leading up to Harris' address, social media buzzed with rumors suggesting that Beyoncé might grace the final night of the convention. However, these rumors were put to rest when Beyoncé's publicist confirmed that the superstar would not be in attendance. It is worth noting that the campaign and convention officials had never confirmed Beyoncé's presence to reporters, dismissing their attempts to verify the news.

Former President Donald Trump, meanwhile, faced questions about his economic plan during a CNN interview. When asked how he plans to finance his economic proposals, which include tax cuts that could increase the federal deficit, Trump evaded a direct answer. Instead, he referenced the "tremendous growth" during his presidency and highlighted his claim of implementing "the largest tax cuts ever given." Trump's refusal to entertain changes to entitlement programs such as Medicare or Social Security to offset the costs has drawn criticism.

Responding to concerns about his security, Trump expressed "great confidence" in the Secret Service, even after some agents involved in the Pennsylvania rally - where he survived an assassination attempt - were reassigned to administrative duties. Trump emphasized that lessons had been learned from the incident, ultimately improving safety measures. However, he also criticized President Joe Biden's administration for allegedly inadequately providing Secret Service personnel for his "massive rallies."

In a bid to appeal to supporters of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Harris campaign released a statement following Kennedy's announcement to suspend his campaign and endorse former President Donald Trump. The statement highlighted the shared values of respect for rights, public safety, protecting freedoms, and opportunities for all Americans. Actress Cheryl Hines, Kennedy's wife, also expressed gratitude for the transformative journey they had experienced throughout the campaign, without mentioning Kennedy's endorsement of Trump.

Speculations about Kennedy's potential role in a future Trump administration were met with vague responses from the former president. When asked about potential cabinet or adviser positions for Kennedy, Trump praised him as a "terrific guy" but did not provide any specific details.

The ratings triumph of the Democratic National Convention signifies the strong public interest in the speeches and messages delivered during the event. With the race for the presidency intensifying, both parties will undoubtedly continue their efforts to captivate and mobilize voters as the election draws near.
