**Blue State Governors Pledge Resistance Against Trump’s Policies**

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to assume office, several Democratic governors from blue states are vowing to resist any initiatives that may undermine their state's policies. This has prompted a key member of Trump's transition team to criticize these governors for being "out of touch" with the electorate.

Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for the Trump-Vance transition, addressed the issue on Fox News' Maria Bartiromo show. Leavitt remarked, "They should open their eyes and look at how the American people voted in this election. They have given President Trump a resounding mandate to deliver on the promises that he made on the campaign trail." She emphasized that even traditionally blue states like New York and California exhibited significant shifts toward Trump.

Leavitt highlighted that California saw a 12-point shift towards Trump, noting high-profile changes such as the replacement of the L.A. district attorney with a more independent candidate and the ousting of San Francisco's liberal mayor. "The American people are done with these far progressive policies. They want common sense, and that's what President Trump has campaigned on," she asserted.

The pushback from Democratic governors comes amid promises to protect their state interests from any federal overreach. New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul declared her willingness to cooperate with Trump on beneficial efforts but issued a stark warning: "If you try to harm New Yorkers or roll back their rights, I will fight you every step of the way."

Illinois Democratic Governor JB Pritzker echoed similar sentiments during a press conference, stating, "You come for my people, you come through me." Additionally, California Governor Gavin Newsom announced his efforts to "Trump-proof" the state, signaling his readiness to counter any adverse policies from the incoming administration.

Trump's decisive victory in the 2024 election included a clean sweep of all seven swing states, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. Notably, Trump also made gains among typically Democratic voting blocs, including Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, young voters, and union members.

The confrontation between blue state leaders and the Trump administration sets the stage for a series of battles over policy directions and state rights, reflecting the deep divisions within American politics.
