Davie County, NC - Investigators have confirmed that the disturbing case of a missing woman in Davie County has come to a tragic end with the discovery of two bodies in a wooded area. The Davie County Sheriff's Office has declared the deaths of Cynthia "Cindy" Roberson Gobble, 60, and Gregory Wayne Gobble, 59, as a result of a murder-suicide.

The unsettling chain of events began when deputies were called to conduct a welfare check at the Gobble residence located on the 300 block of Country Lane. Family members had expressed concern after being unable to contact Cynthia Gobble since late afternoon.

Authorities revealed that Cynthia Gobble was in the midst of an ongoing separation and divorce from Gregory Gobble, both residents of Mocksville. Upon arriving at the home, deputies found evidence suggesting that Cynthia had not left on her own accord. Her personal belongings were discovered within her vehicle, adding to the concerns expressed by family members.

Investigators and concerned family members diligently pursued avenues to locate both Cynthia and Gregory Gobble. Extensive searches were conducted at places known to be frequented by the couple, but all attempts to establish contact were in vain. Furthermore, law enforcement was unable to locate Gregory's white Ford truck, which had been confirmed as his mode of transportation on the day in question.

With the investigation intensifying, deputies initiated an official missing persons alert for Cynthia and Gregory Gobble as well as their white Ford truck. Additionally, an Ashanti Alert was issued specifically for Cynthia, with Gregory identified as the suspect in her disappearance. The alert indicated there was evidence of physical endangerment, abduction, or kidnapping.

Tragically, their worst fears were confirmed when the Iredell County Sheriff's Office received a distressing call regarding the discovery of two bodies in a wooded area off Sheffield Road, just beyond the Iredell-Davie County line. A joint investigation involving authorities from both counties concluded that the bodies were indeed those of Cynthia and Gregory Gobble.

The Davie County Sheriff's Office has determined that both victims sustained fatal gunshot wounds and recovered the weapon at the scene. The circumstances surrounding this devastating murder-suicide are currently under investigation, as law enforcement officials work diligently to piece together the events leading up to the tragic outcome.

Local community members are shocked and saddened by the loss of Cynthia and Gregory Gobble, and the entire Davie County area mourns their passing. Our heartfelt condolences go out to their family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

As investigators continue their efforts to gather evidence and determine the motive behind this tragic incident, the community stands united in support of those left behind, grieving over the loss of two lives in an unimaginable act of violence.
