In response to the recent assassination attempt on Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump, Comedy Central's The Daily Show has announced changes to its scheduled coverage of the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Originally planning a full week of shows from July 15-18, with a live show hosted by beloved former host Jon Stewart on the closing night, the show has made the decision to cancel its telecasts from Milwaukee. The Monday, July 15 episode will be skipped as the show's writers and crew, some of whom had already traveled to Wisconsin, make the necessary logistical changes.
Instead, The Daily Show will air from its New York studio for the Tuesday-Thursday episodes. Jon Stewart, known for his wit and political commentary, is expected to play a significant role in the revised coverage, potentially taking on hosting duties as early as Tuesday.
Meanwhile, CBS' The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is still set to broadcast live editions from New York as planned, with episodes scheduled from Monday to Thursday.
The aftermath of the assassination attempt has also brought increased security measures to the upcoming Republican National Convention. Authorities anticipate tightened security following the deadly shooting that claimed the life of a Trump supporter, while also injuring the former President.
The Daily Show's adjustments to its Indecision 2024 coverage reflect the show's commitment to adapt strategically in light of unforeseen circumstances. By shifting to their New York studio, they aim to continue providing viewers with their unique brand of political humor and commentary during this pivotal period in national politics.
The safety of all those involved with the convention, including performers, crew members, and attendees, remains a top priority amid heightened security precautions. Stay tuned for further updates as The Daily Show and other media outlets navigate the changing landscape of the Republican National Convention.
