In the latest development in contract negotiations, the Dallas Cowboys and star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb find themselves at a standstill. According to Jane Slater of NFL Media, there have been no recent discussions or proposals exchanged between the two parties in the past 24 hours.

Reportedly, the Cowboys have made an offer to Lamb which would see him earn an average of just under $33 million annually. However, with the season opener now only 19 days away, the urgency to reach an agreement is mounting, even if owner Jerry Jones remains unfazed.

When asked about Lamb's contract situation, Jones acknowledged the importance of getting the deal done but expressed optimism that progress will be made. "We're in good shape there and we are having promising talks," Jones said in response to concerns. "It takes both of you there at the same time. But I believe it's got the proper amount of everything for everybody involved here, and we'll see how it goes."

Despite Jones' positive outlook, the lack of recent dialogue raises questions about the timeline for reaching an agreement. It is worth noting that the Cowboys faced a similar situation in 2019 when they didn't secure a contract extension for running back Ezekiel Elliott until the week of the season opener.

Complicating matters is the fact that Lamb has not participated in any team activities since the end of last season. He skipped the offseason program, including the mandatory minicamp, and has not reported to training camp. The Cowboys' California portion of camp is set to conclude on Thursday, further adding to the uncertainty surrounding Lamb's future.

Last season, Lamb proved his worth on the field, recording a career-high 135 catches for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. These outstanding performances earned him All-Pro honors for the first time in his career. With his contract status unresolved and the regular season rapidly approaching, there is growing anticipation among fans to see Lamb in action once again.

As negotiations continue, both the Cowboys and Lamb's representation must find common ground to ensure his future with the team. While the details of the ongoing talks remain undisclosed, it is clear that the Cowboys value Lamb's contributions and are eager to keep him in Dallas.

The coming days will be crucial in determining whether a resolution can be reached before kickoff. Cowboys fans will anxiously await updates on the contract negotiations, hoping for a positive outcome that ensures the dynamic receiver's continued presence on the field.
