However, the distribution process faced a setback when a company owned by former Washington football team owner, Dan Snyder, expressed displeasure with the film's portrayal of Trump. In an effort to move forward with the release, plans are underway to buy out Snyder's group from the film at a 40% markup.

Briarcliff Entertainment, known for distributing films from acclaimed filmmaker Michael Moore and others, is set to distribute "The Apprentice" in both the US and international markets. However, the film's journey to the screens is expected to be challenging, with potential hurdles in securing widespread distribution. The controversy surrounding "The Apprentice" comes at a time when Trump continues to face scrutiny over allegations of sexual abuse. A New York court recently found him civilly liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll, further adding to the controversial nature of the film.
