In a heartfelt message to his fans, Conor McGregor opened up about his recent injury and the subsequent postponement of his scheduled return bout. The UFC star was set to headline UFC 303 against Michael Chandler on June 29 in Las Vegas, but an injury sustained prior to the press conference forced him to withdraw from the fight.

Taking to Instagram, McGregor shared his disappointment, stating, "Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout." He explained that the injury required more time to heal than was initially anticipated, leading to the difficult decision to postpone the fight. The choice was made in consultation with his doctors, the UFC, and his team.

The news comes as a blow to McGregor, who has not stepped into the octagon since his loss to Dustin Poirier on July 10, 2021. The loss marked his second consecutive defeat against Poirier and brings his overall record to three losses in his last four fights. Nonetheless, McGregor's planned return generated significant intrigue among fans and the MMA community.

The unease surrounding McGregor's absence from the introductory press conference only heightened concerns. However, the Irish fighter assured his supporters that he is focused on returning to top form. "My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there!" McGregor exclaimed.

Despite the setback, McGregor expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from his fans. He maintained a positive outlook and vowed to come back stronger. "Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I'll be back!"

Fight fans around the world eagerly await McGregor's return to the octagon, as they hope to witness the revival of the charismatic fighter's winning form. Although a new date for UFC 303 has yet to be announced, McGregor's determination to heal and his unwavering confidence leave room for optimism.
