### Trump Criticizes Liz Cheney, Calls Her a "Radical War Hawk"

At an October 31 campaign event in Glendale, Arizona, former US President Donald Trump launched a verbal attack on former US Republican lawmaker Liz Cheney. Speaking with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Trump labeled Cheney as a "radical war hawk" and made controversial comments about her stance on military involvement.

When Carlson inquired if it was "weird" for Trump to see Liz Cheney, daughter of former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney, campaigning against him and supporting Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Trump's response was extensive. He criticized Cheney's inclination for military engagement, referencing her desire to maintain US presence in Iraq and Syria, contrasting it with his own decisions to withdraw troops.

Trump stated, "I don't want to go to war. [Liz Cheney] wanted to go, she wanted to stay in Syria. I took [troops] out. She wanted to stay in Iraq. I took them out. I mean, if it were up to her, we'd be in 50 different countries." He further explained the dangers, human costs, and financial burden of such military actions.

The most provocative part of Trump's remarks came with his hypothetical scenario involving Cheney. He said, "Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face." This statement drew substantial public attention and criticism.

In response, Liz Cheney took to social media on November 1, posting on X, "This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant." She included hashtags emphasizing women's voices and support for Kamala Harris.

Trump's campaign defended his comments, emphasizing Cheney's support for his legislative agenda during his presidency until their fallout post the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot. Cheney, who served on the US House January 6 select committee, lost her bid for reelection in 2022 after breaking with Trump and rejecting his false claims of a fraudulent 2020 election.

The exchange underscores the ongoing rift within the Republican Party and highlights the impact of Trump-era politics on its members.
