In a tragic turn of events, the death of 22-year-old college student Riley Strain has been classified as accidental, according to the recently released autopsy report. The University of Missouri student went missing on March 8 after being asked to leave Luke Bryan's bar in downtown Nashville due to intoxication. His body was later discovered in the Cumberland River, approximately 8 miles away from the city center, after a 14-day search.

The autopsy conducted by the Davidson County Medical Examiner revealed that Strain's cause of death was drowning and ethanol intoxication, commonly known as alcohol poisoning. The report corroborated the findings of the investigation carried out by the Metro Nashville Police Department's missing person detectives.

The examination of Strain's lungs unveiled a significant amount of fluid, confirming the impact of drowning. The police investigation established that the young student had consumed multiple alcoholic drinks at various establishments in Nashville. His blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.228, indicating severe intoxication leading to disorientation, impaired motor functions, and sensory impairment. Traces of nicotine and THC, the active compound in marijuana, were also detected in his system.

When Strain's body was recovered, he was found wearing a shirt, undershorts, socks, and a blue watch. However, his shoes, jeans, belt, and wallet were missing. On the night of his disappearance, Strain had been wearing cowboy boots.

The Metro Nashville Police Department's inquiry revealed that Strain was separated from his friends and exhibited noticeable impairment while walking onto Gay Street, which was adjacent to the Cumberland River. The investigation concluded that Strain was unaware of the treacherous terrain and the steep embankment leading to the river, further exacerbated by the darkness. Unfortunately, he stumbled and fell down the embankment, ultimately drowning in the swift current of the high river caused by recent rainfall.

Strain's family expressed their gratitude for the comprehensive investigation and is currently reviewing all the results, including those from a private autopsy they had commissioned.

This unfortunate incident has prompted discussions about the responsibility of establishments in Music City to prevent such tragedies. The circumstances surrounding Strain's death serve as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety and responsible alcohol consumption to avoid similar incidents in the future.
