**Coastal Carolina Coach Criticizes Florida Coach Kevin O'Sullivan after Reported Incident**
In a surprising turn of events at the Conway Regional on Sunday, Coastal Carolina's head baseball coach, Kevin Schnall, did not mince words in criticizing Florida's head coach, Kevin O'Sullivan. Schnall’s remarks followed a reported on-site altercation involving O'Sullivan.
Schnall, who guided Coastal Carolina to a 1-0 victory over East Carolina, ensuring their progression to the super regional round of the NCAA baseball tournament, took issue with O'Sullivan's conduct earlier in the day. According to various reports, O'Sullivan had a vehement outburst directed at the tournament staff due to a scheduling change. Although specific details of the altercation remain unclear, Schnall was adamant in expressing his disapproval.
"Another coach disrespected our associate AD, who works as hard as anybody in our entire program," Schnall said after his team’s win. He added, "He disrespected our field crew, who are the salt of the earth. These guys would do anything for our program. It's not OK. This needs to be brought up. Absolutely disrespectful."
Schnall emphasized the importance of mentorship in the coaching profession and condemned O'Sullivan’s alleged treatment of the site representatives and staff. "As a coach, it's our job to mentor young kids and the way he treated the two site reps, the way he treated our associate AD, the way he treated our field crew is absolutely unacceptable. That's what I'm most disappointed about," Schnall stated. "This is a national champion coach who thinks he can come in here and try to bully people around."
Schnall refrained from mentioning O'Sullivan by name but his message was unmistakably directed towards the Florida coach. O'Sullivan, who has led the Gators to the College World Series nine times and secured a championship in 2017, was described by Schnall as someone many coaches look up to, which made the incident even more disappointing.
Ultimately, Schnall and his team had the last word on the field. East Carolina defeated Florida 11-4, eliminating the Gators from the tournament. Subsequently, Coastal Carolina triumphed over the Pirates in the regional final, pushing the No. 13 seed Chanticleers into the super regional for the first time since 2016. They are set to face Auburn in the next round.
