CNN Host Abruptly Ends Interview with Trump Campaign Spokeswoman Over Moderator Criticism
In a heated exchange on Monday, CNN host Kasie Hunt abruptly ended an interview with Donald Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt after she criticized CNN colleagues Dana Bash and Jake Tapper for their alleged bias. Bash and Tapper are set to moderate the highly anticipated debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday night.
During the interview, Hunt asked Leavitt about Trump's debate strategy. Leavitt responded by stating that President Trump is well-prepared for the debates and unlike Joe Biden, he doesn't rely on the advice of his advisors. Leavitt then criticized the moderators, claiming they have displayed biases against Trump over the past eight years.
Hunt, however, came to the defense of her colleagues, stating that Tapper and Bash have proven themselves as professionals, having covered numerous campaigns and interviewed candidates from all sides of the political spectrum. She also noted that attacking the moderators is often a sign of weakness in debates.
Leavitt responded by insisting that she was stating facts based on what Hunt's colleagues had said in the past. At that point, Hunt decisively ended the interview, stating that if Leavitt continued to attack her colleagues, further discussion would be halted.
Following the clash, Hunt turned to the CNN panel and predicted that attacks on the debate format and moderators would continue from Trump supporters. She emphasized that Tapper and Bash have always maintained an unbiased approach in their interviews and discussions.
The upcoming presidential debate between Trump and Biden has been the subject of intense scrutiny. With only two days remaining until the event, tensions are running high as both campaigns seek to gain an advantage before the final stretch of the election.
