In a recent video clip, CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins was visibly frustrated as she had to confront yet another unfounded accusation made by former President Donald Trump. The focus of this particular claim was President Joe Biden allegedly being hopped up on drugs like cocaine.

During a public speech, Trump exclaimed, "He's gonna be so pumped up, he's gonna be pumped up. You know all that stuff that was missing about a month ago from the White House? What happened?... Somebody didn't pick up hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cocaine. I wonder who that could've been. I don't know. Actually, I think it was Joe."

Collins, irritated by the necessity of once again dispelling Trump's persistent and baseless allegations, reacted by saying, "I can't even believe I have to fact-check that one, I guess if that's what you're calling it. But it was not President Biden."

This is not the first time Trump has made false claims regarding Biden's alleged drug use. Earlier this year, he insinuated that Biden was "higher than a kite" during his State of the Union address in March. Trump has even cynically called for a drug test ahead of the upcoming debate, while his Republican allies persistently try to discredit Biden by sharing deceptive videos implying a deficit in mental fitness.

It is worth noting that the Republican candidate himself has faced criminal convictions and has been accused of cognitive shortcomings. Yet, despite the lack of evidence supporting Trump's grave allegations against President Biden, his persistence in spreading baseless claims continues to be met with frustration from news anchors like Collins.

It remains to be seen how such disinformation tactics will impact the upcoming debate and the discourse surrounding the presidential race. However, it is crucial for the public to examine allegations critically and rely on factual information when assessing the fitness and qualifications of political figures.
