Title: Chelsea Mother Held on $100,000 Bail in Connection with Son's Death

A tragic incident has unfolded in Chelsea as Jennifer Prudencio, a 25-year-old mother, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment in relation to the death of her 3-year-old son. Prudencio appeared in court on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

According to Prosecutor Audrey Mark, Prudencio's son, Yael Guardardo-Prudencio, had a medical history of seizures and hemophilia. In the week leading up to his death, Yael was sick and vomiting blood. On Saturday, April 6, Mark stated that Yael vomited again and had an untreated head injury from a fall. Despite his condition, Prudencio left Yael in the care of his older siblings, aged 7 and 8, while she went out for the night.

It was revealed that Prudencio spent Saturday night drinking at a bar in Revere before staying overnight at her boyfriend's home in Somerville. During the night, her 8-year-old son allegedly sent her a video of the sick child, expressing concern for Yael's well-being. Prudencio reportedly responded that she would be home soon but chose to stay out all night.

Tragically, when Prudencio returned to her Spencer Avenue apartment on Sunday morning around 10 a.m., she discovered that Yael had passed away. Peter Lemire, Prudencio's attorney, described the incident as a "terrible, terrible tragedy" and conveyed that she is devastated by Yael's untimely death. Lemire also noted that there was no prior involvement from the Department of Children and Families (DCF) regarding the family, and Prudencio is fully cooperating with the police.

Prudencio has been ordered to stay away from children under 16 and wear a GPS monitoring bracelet if she is able to post bail. Additionally, her two older children are currently under the custody of the DCF. Prudencio's family was present in court but chose not to comment on the situation.

Prudencio is scheduled to return to court on May 2 for a probable cause hearing. As this devastating incident continues to unfold, the community hopes for a thorough investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Yael's tragic death.
