**Charlie Kirk Rallies Conservatives at Freedom Night in Phoenix**
Charlie Kirk, a prominent Republican activist, hosted his monthly "Freedom Night in America" event at Dream City Church in Phoenix, drawing a substantial crowd of over 1,000 attendees. In early October, under red, white, and blue lights, Kirk passionately declared his belief that divine intervention was at work in American politics, particularly in favor of former President Donald Trump. "I truly believe that God has voted early in this election," Kirk asserted, citing Trump’s survival of an incident on July 13 as a sign of divine favor.
Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA at the youthful age of 18, has seen his organization evolve from a secular, libertarian-leaning group into a cornerstone of Christian nationalism within the MAGA movement. At the Dream City Church, he made his stance clear: "I do not believe that if you love the Lord, read the Bible, and call yourself a Christian, that you can vote for Kamala Harris for president."
Turning Point USA has now become a critical player in the Republican Party, especially in the pivotal swing state of Arizona. The Trump campaign has integrated much of its local ground efforts with Turning Point's operations. Their strategy, named "chase the vote," aims to engage "low-propensity voters," or those who are typically disengaged from the electoral process—particularly disaffected men whom the campaign believes would support Trump if motivated to vote. Kirk expressed confidence in this approach, saying, "We're going to make it too big to rig on Election Day."
However, this strategy is not without its risks. History shows that relying on mobilizing new voters can be a gamble. Bernie Sanders's 2020 primary campaign is a case in point, where the effort to energize politically disengaged voters with a populist message fell short, particularly in states like Michigan. Whether this right-wing adaptation will succeed remains uncertain until the votes are counted.
During the October Freedom Night, Kirk was joined by Ben Carson, the former housing secretary under Trump. While much of their dialogue echoed familiar MAGA themes, an underlying concern was evident: Trump's polarizing personality and character could deter potential Republican voters. Kirk addressed this directly, questioning how Christians could support Harris over Trump. He rebutted the criticism of Trump’s demeanor by invoking the biblical figure Samson, who achieved great feats despite his controversial profile, suggesting America similarly needs a strong leader.
