A town council meeting in Bedminster, New Jersey turned chaotic when an angry Trump supporter made racist remarks towards a local resident. The incident was reported by Staten Island Live. The meeting was primarily focused on a controversial change to local parking rules, particularly the abolishment of parking on Clucas Brook Road, a street near former President Donald Trump's golf club. This road had been frequently used by attendees of Trump rallies held at a local library.

The decision to eliminate parking on Clucas Brook Road was made by the all-Republican council due to safety concerns and noise complaints. While some members of the community supported the change, many Trump supporters, including out-of-town visitors from other counties in New Jersey, vehemently opposed the decision. They viewed it as a violation of free speech and political persecution.

During the meeting, a Trump rally attendee from Waretown County expressed his dissatisfaction with the new rule, stating, "I can't drive two hours and then not have a place to park my car on a public street." However, the situation quickly escalated when a local Asian-American resident spoke in support of the new ordinance. The Trump supporter responded by demanding the resident to "Go back to China."

The racist remark sparked outrage among those present at the meeting, including the council members. One council member condemned the offensive comment, deeming it "unacceptable" to attack residents in such a manner. The Trump supporter refused to apologize and went on to refer to the council as "Nazis."

It is worth mentioning that Bedminster's golf club, owned by Donald Trump, has often served as a haven for the former president. Trump has utilized the club for news conferences, including one in which he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris' economic record. Additionally, there are reports of plans to host an "awards gala" for convicted January 6 rioters on the property next month.

With the forthcoming presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Donald Trump drawing closer, a Washington Post political analyst offered a unique perspective to counter Trump's confrontational tactics. Matt Bai suggested that the Harris campaign should focus on diverting attention from Trump's disruptive behavior by adopting a Trump-less approach, similar to Harris' successful convention speech. Bai emphasized the importance of showcasing Harris' personal narrative and vision for the future, rather than engaging in a battle with Trump.

The columnist proposed that Harris should remain composed and brush off Trump's provocations, presenting herself as a candidate of grace, warmth, humor, and confidence. According to Bai, voters are seeking a leader who can respond to chaos with composure and steer the nation away from a period of anger and divisiveness.

As the tension rises at the Bedminster council meeting and the presidential debate approaches, it remains to be seen how the community and candidates will navigate the challenges posed by passionate supporters and divisive rhetoric.
