The Dallas Cowboys' star receiver, CeeDee Lamb, has reportedly turned down the team's latest contract extension offer, which would have made him one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. According to NFL Media, the offer was around $33 million per year, just below the record-breaking contract of Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings.

Lamb, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, is seeking an increase in the average annual salary, as well as a reassessment of the cash flow and guaranteed money in the proposed deal. As a result, he has decided to hold out of Cowboys training camp and did not participate in any offseason practices.

The pressure is mounting as the regular season approaches for both Lamb and the Cowboys to reach an agreement. However, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones downplayed the urgency, stating in August that the team is not in a rush for Lamb's return. This remark prompted Lamb to express his amusement with an "lol" on social media, causing a small uproar among fans and media.

Jones later clarified his statement, emphasizing that Lamb's absence was noticed and acknowledged within the team. He assured the public that negotiations with Lamb are ongoing and that both sides are working diligently to reach a satisfactory resolution.

Lamb's recent performance has further fueled his desire for a new contract. Last season, he led the league in receptions with 135 and ranked second in receiving yards with 1,749. Additionally, he scored 12 receiving touchdowns, placing him third in the NFL.

The contract situation becomes even more complicated for the Cowboys as other key figures, such as quarterback Dak Prescott and linebacker Micah Parsons, are also seeking new deals. Prescott, in particular, is considered a priority for the team. According to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Prescott's baseline salary demand is around $55 million per year, with reports suggesting he could command even more in the free-agent market.

The Cowboys organization recognizes the importance of keeping both Prescott and Lamb on the team. Jerry Jones stated that he understands the value of both players and their desires to remain in Dallas, showing optimism in finding a mutually beneficial agreement for all parties involved.

As negotiations continue, Cowboys fans anxiously await updates on the contract situations of CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. The team's success and future aspirations may hinge on securing these vital extensions before the upcoming season.
