Camp Hill, a small town located in Pennsylvania, has been named the top place for retirees to live in the United States. Known for its slower pace, low cost of living, and low crime rate, Camp Hill offers a desirable environment away from the hustle and bustle of cities.

According to a survey conducted by GoBankingRates.com, which analyzed small towns with populations between 1,000 and 10,000 residents, Camp Hill emerged as the best place to retire. Scoring an impressive 92 on its livability index, the town stood out for its affordable monthly cost of $3,356 and low crime rate of 9.4 incidents per 1,000 residents.

Camp Hill's success in the rankings is further justified by the fact that around 15 percent of its population is aged 65 or over, making it an attractive destination for retirees. Additionally, the area boasts a vibrant shopping scene with numerous small businesses, many of which are owned by women.

The second spot in the rankings went to Northville, Michigan, with a livability score of 86, a monthly cost of living amounting to $3,383, and a crime rate of 6.5 per 1,000 residents. Fort Mitchell, Kentucky secured the third position, sharing the same livability score as Camp Hill but with a slightly higher crime rate of 8.7 incidents.

Delaware, on the other hand, was recognized as the best state for retirees. Its beautiful coastline, favorable tax policies, and availability of wellness services contributed to its high ranking.

The survey's results come at a time when a significant number of Americans are not financially prepared for retirement. Disturbingly, around 27 percent of individuals aged 59 or older have not saved money for their post-retirement years. Furthermore, only 10 percent of those between the ages of 62 and 70, who are already retired, currently enjoy financial stability.

Camp Hill's top ranking in the list of small towns for retirees highlights the town's ability to provide an affordable and safe environment for senior citizens. With its low crime rate, vibrant local businesses, and attractive cost of living, Camp Hill is likely to continue to attract individuals looking for an ideal retirement destination.
