In a critical point of his reelection bid, President Joe Biden faces mounting calls from his fellow Democrats to withdraw from the 2024 race, raising concerns about his age and fitness for office. Despite these calls, Biden has adamantly stated that he will continue on his current path, refusing to yield to pressure.

President Biden's first post-debate news conference was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, coming shortly after renewed questions about his viability and future arose from his lackluster debate performance against former President Donald Trump. The President's opponents have reignited debates about his age and ability to lead the nation for another four years.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking in an interview on the PBS NewsHour, stated that underestimating Biden would be a "big mistake." Scholz emphasized that his recent interactions with the President showed a focused and intense commitment to his role as the leader of NATO.

During the NATO summit on Thursday evening, Biden made a slip of the tongue by introducing Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as President Putin. He quickly corrected himself, stating that he was "so focused on beating Putin." Zelenskyy laughed off the gaffe, expressing confidence in his own abilities.

Adding to the pressure on President Biden, Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a Democrat from Washington, became the 14th House Democrat to call for him to withdraw from the race. In her statement, Gluesenkamp Perez cited concerns expressed by her constituents about Biden's age and health, also questioning if he is the one making important decisions for the country.

"The crisis of confidence in the President's leadership needs to come to an end," Gluesenkamp Perez said in her statement, highlighting the need for a resolution to the growing doubts surrounding Biden's ability to carry out his duties effectively.

While President Biden remains firm in his resolve to stay the course, the calls for him to exit the 2024 race continue to mount. As the nation watches his solo news conference, the future of Biden's campaign and his ability to serve another four years hangs in the balance.
