In a shocking series of events, a 25-year-old California man identified as Nicholas Hosteter has been arrested for randomly punching two elderly men in separate incidents. The Campbell Police Department confirmed that Hosteter was apprehended on Saturday in connection with the two attacks that occurred in Campbell earlier this month.

The first incident took place on May 4, when Hosteter allegedly assaulted a victim on San Tomas Aquino Road before fleeing the scene. However, to the surprise of the victim, Hosteter paused to pose casually on a sidewalk while the victim managed to snap a photo in hopes of identifying his attacker. Police promptly released the photo on social media, seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect.

The second random attack occurred on Friday morning, as a 75-year-old man was taking a walk in Campbell. According to authorities, Hosteter approached the victim near Inwood Drive and Elam Avenue and punched him in the face. Later, when the victim and his family returned to the area in search of surveillance footage, they encountered Hosteter once again. Allegedly, Hosteter attempted to engage in a fight with the family before finally leaving.

Following the incidents, law enforcement launched an immediate search and positively identified Hosteter as the suspect. With the assistance of Hosteter's parents, officers were able to locate and arrest him without incident on Saturday morning. However, the arrest did not go smoothly, as Hosteter reportedly kicked an officer during the booking process. Consequently, he now faces an additional charge of battery of an officer.
