### Bruce Springsteen Slams Trump Administration at Manchester Concert
Rock icon Bruce Springsteen has openly criticized President Donald Trump and his administration, labeling them as corrupt and incompetent. During a recent concert in Manchester, northern England, Springsteen used his platform to highlight the perils he believes the current US leadership poses to democracy.
"In my home, the America I love - the America I've written about that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years - is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration," he declared at the start of the concert. The event marked the beginning of the European leg of Springsteen and the E Street Band's "Land of Hope and Dreams" tour, which will also visit France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic.
Springsteen’s remarks didn't stop at general criticisms. He took specific aim at the administration's policies, condemning what he described as the abandonment of the world's poorest children to sickness and death by wealthy men seeking satisfaction. Springsteen also called out attacks on loyal American workers, the rollback of historic civil rights achievements, and the alienation of international allies in favor of dictators.
Not limiting his ire to the President alone, Springsteen criticized US lawmakers for failing to protect the American public from what he sees as an unfit presidency. He accused them of having no real understanding of what it means to be American, lamenting their perceived inability to rise to the occasion in these crucial times.
Throughout the concert, Springsteen urged his audience to act, emphasizing the importance of collective action. "The last check on power, after the checks and balances of government have failed, are the people - you and me. It's in the union of people around a common set of values. Now that's all that stands between democracy and authoritarianism. So at the end of the day, all we've really got is each other," he told concertgoers.
The rock star has previously voiced his concerns about Trump and encouraged Americans to support Kamala Harris in the last election cycle. His current tour suggests that his commitment to challenging what he views as a dangerous administration remains steadfast.
Springsteen's criticism echoes sentiments recently expressed by actor Robert De Niro at the Cannes Film Festival. De Niro, also a vocal critic of Trump, emphasized the global importance of fighting for democracy, especially through the inclusivity and truth-seeking nature of the arts. Both celebrities called for passionate yet non-violent resistance and stressed the importance of voting in upcoming elections.
As Springsteen's European tour continues, his powerful messages of resistance and hope aim to resonate with audiences across the continent and beyond.
