### Brooklyn Man Charged with Father’s Murder at Irish Hotel
A 30-year-old American man, Henry McGowan from Brooklyn, New York, has been accused of murdering his father at a luxurious hotel in Ireland. Henry made a court appearance on Thursday at Portlaoise District Court.
The victim, John McGowan, aged 60, was discovered with severe injuries at the leisure centre of Ballyfin Demesne Inn in County Laois around 8 PM on Tuesday. John had just arrived in Ireland from the United States earlier that day and checked into the hotel before the tragic incident occurred.
During the court hearing, the defence attorney informed the judge that Henry McGowan suffers from serious mental health issues. Judge Andrew Cody ordered that Henry be held in custody and mandated an immediate psychiatric evaluation upon his arrival at the prison.
The court has adjourned the case, scheduling the next session for 18 November.
