As the spotlight focuses on Donald Trump following his recent prominence on November 5th, Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is gearing up for an essential gathering. Lula, affectionately known as Brazil’s president, is set to host the G20 leaders' summit in Rio de Janeiro on November 18th and 19th. This significant event will bring together heads of state from 19 of the world's largest economies, alongside representatives from the European and African Unions.

Brazil sees this summit as a pivotal opportunity to address pressing global issues. Lula has outlined three primary goals for the discussions. The first is the creation of a global alliance aimed at reducing hunger and poverty. The second objective focuses on securing agreements to reform global institutions, although the specifics remain to be seen. Lastly, Lula is keen on increasing nations' financial commitments to combat climate change.

A more controversial aspiration Lula has is rallying support for a global tax on billionaires. This idea may find an ally in Joe Biden, the current president of the United States. Biden, who is considered a 'lame-duck' leader at the summit, is expected to be open to some of these propositions. However, significant challenges are anticipated since Donald Trump, who will wield immense global influence in the forthcoming years, is not in favor of these initiatives.
