### Duke Blue Devils Capture Historic Win, Achieve Bowl Eligibility with Victory Over Seminoles

The Duke Blue Devils made history on Friday night by securing their first-ever win over the Florida State Seminoles, triumphing 23-16. This victory snapped a staggering 22-game losing streak against Florida State that dated back to 1992. With the win, Duke also achieved bowl eligibility in the inaugural year under coach Manny Diaz, marking significant progress for a team that currently holds a 6-1 record.

In sharp contrast, the Florida State Seminoles' woes continue to deepen. Following a stellar previous season with a 13-0 regular season finish and an ACC title win over Louisville, the Seminoles have now dropped to a disappointing 1-6. This marks their worst start since 1975, the year before the legendary Bobby Bowden took the helm. They also have the dubious distinction of becoming the first preseason AP top-10 team to start a season 1-6 since LSU in 1989.

Duke's victory was particularly impressive given their limited offensive output of just 180 total yards. However, their defense was dominant, recording six sacks and forcing four turnovers, one of which resulted in a touchdown from an interception by Chandler Rivers. Kicker Todd Pelino also played a crucial role, contributing three field goals to the scoreline.

Florida State's quarterback troubles were evident throughout the game. Brock Glenn was benched in the second quarter after committing three turnovers in as many drives—two interceptions and a fumble. Freshman Luke Kromenhoek, ranked 34th overall in the 2024 recruiting class by 247Sports, was brought in for five drives. However, coach Mike Norvell later reverted to Glenn for the remainder of the game.

Looking ahead, Duke is set to host No. 21 SMU next Saturday, a game that could be pivotal in clarifying the ACC title race. Meanwhile, Florida State will face a tough challenge on the road against No. 6 Miami.
