### Fox News' Hemmer Grills JD Vance on Trump’s "Enemy Within" Remarks
Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer pressed Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance on Monday regarding former President Donald Trump's recent comments about the "enemy within." During the interview, Hemmer asked Vance to explain why Trump had singled out Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) if he was supposedly referring to violent rioters.
Hemmer highlighted his confusion with Trump’s statements. "He [Trump] keeps coming back to these enemies within comments. I’ve read all of it, I’ve listened to all of it," Hemmer stated. "It's hard for me to know what he really means about it, but that's not my question. My question is, why is it necessary?"
Vance defended Trump, characterizing the former president as unfiltered and authentic. "Donald Trump is unfiltered. I think this is one of the reasons why the campaign has gone well... He speaks from the heart. And sometimes that means he's going to talk about issues that the mainstream media isn't focused on," Vance responded. He shifted the conversation to the 2020 riots, citing the significant property damage and loss of life as core issues Trump is addressing. "When we had these terrible riots in the summer of 2020, 20 people died, $13 billion in property damage," Vance pointed out. He underscored the need for a federal response to maintain law and order in such situations.
Hemmer interjected, emphasizing that Trump had specifically named Schiff and Pelosi over the weekend. "In this case, he mentioned Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi by name," Hemmer noted.
Vance escalated his defense by criticizing Pelosi and Schiff for their roles in what he described as the politicization of the Department of Justice. "Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi have been really part of weaponizing the Department of Justice against our country," Vance argued. He accused Pelosi of profiting from insider stock trades while the country suffered economically. "We do have some broken leadership. We have people like Nancy Pelosi, who's getting rich off of insider stock trades even as her own country has gotten poorer," Vance said.
This exchange follows Trump's appearance on Fox News' MediaBuzz, where he labeled Pelosi and Schiff as "bad people" and called them "the enemy from within."
