### Biden Opposes Israeli Preemptive Strike on Iran Amid Rising Tensions

President Joe Biden expressed his disapproval on Wednesday regarding a potential preemptive Israeli assault on Iranian nuclear facilities, amidst escalating tensions between the two nations.

The statement comes on the heels of Iran's direct assault on Israel on Tuesday, where approximately 200 rockets were launched. These rockets reportedly caused minimal damage and resulted in no known Israeli casualties. This aggressive action by Iran follows Israel's notable operation last Friday, in which longtime Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was assassinated in Beirut. Israel also conducted a series of attacks and utilized novel electronic pager bombs against the Iran-backed Lebanese group's leadership.

In response to Iran’s most recent rocket attack on Israel, the White House pledged to enforce repercussions. Despite bipartisan calls from Congress for stricter sanctions against Iranian oil exports, the administration refrained from committing to tougher enforcement measures.

The heightened focus on Iran’s nuclear ambitions was underscored during the vice presidential debate on Tuesday night. Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, refrained from declaring support for an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Conversely, Republican Senator JD Vance expressed a straightforward endorsement, stating he would back Israel's decisions on the matter.

President Biden’s opposition to a potential Israeli strike comes amid signs that Israel may not heed his stance. Recently, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu disregarded Biden’s request to refrain from launching operations into southern Lebanon to neutralize Hezbollah installations. According to The Jerusalem Post, Biden's caution against invading Lebanon was perceived in Israel as a routine statement without an indication of an imminent diplomatic breakthrough.
