### Biden and Harris Commemorate Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris marked Veterans Day with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery on Monday. This event marked their first joint appearance following Harris' recent election loss. The solemn ceremony commenced with the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Following this tribute, Biden and Harris moved to the ceremonial amphitheater where the President delivered a heartfelt speech. In his final address at Arlington as the commander-in-chief, Biden paid homage to America's military veterans, acknowledging their service and ultimate sacrifices, as well as the unwavering support from their families. "It's been the greatest honor of my life, to lead you, to serve you, to care for you, to defend you, just as you defended us, generation after generation after generation," Biden remarked. "You are the greatest fighting force, and this is not hyperbole, the finest fighting force in the history of the world."
During his speech, Biden also announced an important update from the Department of Veterans Affairs. He revealed that the types of cancers covered under the PACT Act would be expanded. This legislation, which he previously signed, aims to extend healthcare services to veterans exposed to toxic smoke from "burn pits" on military bases. According to Biden, over 1 million veterans and their families have already benefited from the provisions of this law.
Biden commenced his brief remarks by reaffirming America's "truly sacred obligation" to adequately prepare those sent into combat and to provide comprehensive care upon their return, or in the event they do not return.
