In a tragic incident, two American missionaries, Natalie Lloyd, 21, and her husband Davy Lloyd, 23, were brutally murdered by gang members during a mission trip to Haiti. The shocking incident has sparked outrage, with Missouri Representative Ben Baker's daughter and son-in-law becoming the latest victims of Haiti's worsening security situation.

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, wasted no time in pointing a finger at the Biden administration, blaming them for the failure to rescue the missionaries in a timely manner. Taking to social media, Greene criticized the administration for its alleged lack of action towards the safety of American citizens abroad.

Echoing Greene's sentiment, Senator Josh Hawley, a Missouri Republican, claimed that his office had sought assistance from the American Embassy in Haiti but were turned away, citing the situation as "too dangerous." Hawley expressed disappointment in the government's inability to protect its own citizens from rampant violence.

The U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince has issued a Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisory due to the rampant presence of gangs participating in kidnapping and extortion, making the country increasingly perilous for both locals and foreigners.

Newsweek reached out to the Department of State and the White House, as well as the offices of Marjorie Taylor Greene and Josh Hawley, for comment but did not receive a response.

The nonprofit organization, Missions in Haiti Inc., founded by Davy's parents, provided harrowing details of the incident on its Facebook page. The organization stated that the missionaries were ambushed by a gang while traveling in three trucks. Davy Lloyd was taken to a house, tied up, and beaten, while the gang looted their trucks. Another gang arrived at the scene, further escalating the situation, resulting in the tragic deaths of Natalie and Davy.

The U.S. Department of State spokesperson expressed condolences to the family and assured that they were ready to provide necessary consular assistance. However, the spokesperson refrained from commenting further out of respect for the grieving family.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the deteriorating security situation in Haiti, leaving Americans concerned for the safety of their citizens in the country. The Biden administration now faces scrutiny over its ability to protect Americans abroad, especially in volatile regions.

As investigations into the incident continue, heartfelt condolences pour in for the grieving family of Natalie and Davy Lloyd. The tragic loss serves as a somber reminder of the risks faced by those who embark on missions to provide humanitarian aid in troubled areas.

It remains to be seen how the Biden administration will respond to the mounting criticism and demands for increased measures to protect American citizens overseas.
