In response to the recent controversies surrounding his name during the head coaching search, Ben Johnson has addressed the "false narratives" that have been circulating in the media. The scrutiny began back in December when reports suggested Johnson was demanding a salary of over $15 million per year, a claim that his agent vehemently denied. However, narratives resurfaced after Johnson decided to remain with his current team.

Albert Breer suggested that Johnson had performed poorly in interviews, while Mike Garafolo questioned his character and described him as "not the most gregarious guy." These negative portrayals of Johnson provoked a strong reaction from the public and media alike. Finally, Johnson seized an opportunity last week to refute some of these reports, noting the inaccuracies in certain claims.

Expressing his feelings on the matter, Johnson stated, "There were, in my opinion, some false narratives going on out there, and it started towards the end of last year before I made the decision to pull out." Clearly frustrated with the misleading information, Johnson felt compelled to set the record straight regarding his salary demands.

While the public criticism must have been difficult to endure, Johnson credits his support system and his own knowledge of the truth for helping him navigate through these challenges unscathed. "That's part of life in the NFL, so (it) doesn't affect me," Johnson affirmed, emphasizing the strength of his support network. However, he expressed concerns about his family potentially being exposed to unsubstantiated information but commended them for handling the situation effectively.

When asked if he desired to correct any of the "false narratives" that have been disseminated, Johnson declined, displaying his confidence in the truth. Looking ahead to his future prospects as a head coach, Johnson reiterated his cautious approach and highlighted his intention to be selective when considering alternative opportunities outside his current position with the Lions.

"If I get the opportunity to go down that road, it's about how I get to that second contract? How do I set myself up?" Johnson explained. He emphasized that his decision would not be hasty, as he genuinely enjoys his current role, is content with his family's situation, appreciates working with his team, and is unwilling to pursue other options unless the circumstances align perfectly.

As the controversy surrounding Ben Johnson's involvement in the head coaching search subsides, his willingness to address the 'false narratives' reflects his commitment to transparency and dispelling any misinformation that may have tarnished his reputation.
