In a surprising turn of events, Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump and Melania Trump, has declined the opportunity to participate as an at-large delegate at the Republican National Convention.

The announcement came just two days after the Republican Party of Florida revealed that Barron had been chosen as one of their delegates. However, a statement issued by Melania Trump stated that Barron would not be able to participate due to prior commitments.

"While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments," read the statement.

With Barron's decision, it remains unclear who will replace him as one of the delegates representing Florida at the convention, as the Republican Party of Florida has not responded to inquiries about the matter as of yet.

The delegate slate from Florida is heavily dominated by members of the Trump family, with Eric Trump serving as the delegation chair. Other members include Donald Trump Jr., his fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle, Tiffany Trump, and her husband, Michael Boulos.

Barron's non-participation in the convention holds particular interest, as he has not been actively involved in politics thus far. With his 18th birthday in March and impending high school graduation scheduled for May 17, Barron has largely remained on the sidelines of public political discourse.

When asked about Barron's selection as a delegate, neither Barron nor the Trump campaign provided any statements or comments. However, in an interview, Donald Trump disclosed that his youngest son has shown an interest in politics.

"He does like politics. It's sort of funny. He will tell me sometimes, 'Dad, this is what you have to do,'" Trump revealed in an interview with Philadelphia's Talk Radio 1210 WPHT radio station. "So anyway, he's a good guy. He is a senior now in high school and he will be going to college."

As Barron takes a step back from the political spotlight, attention will shift to the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and the subsequent selection of a replacement delegate from Florida.
