### Armed Suspect at Atlanta's Four Seasons Hotel in Custody After SWAT Standoff

An armed individual who had been the focal point of a tense standoff with a SWAT team at Midtown Atlanta's Four Seasons hotel is now in police custody, as confirmed by the Atlanta Police Department. Officers initially responded to a call describing a "demented person."

The identity of the suspect and the events leading up to the standoff have not yet been disclosed by authorities. An order for residents and hotel guests to shelter in place had been issued but has since been lifted. On the ground, an Atlanta News First crew reported hearing what resembled gunshots and an explosion during the incident.

Police had set up a secure perimeter around the hotel, acting with what they described as "an abundance of caution." According to a department statement, witnesses were advised to steer clear of windows and rooms facing the Four Seasons Hotel. An officer on the scene mentioned that the suspect was believed to be carrying a large caliber rifle.

Streets in the vicinity, including 14th St NE at W Peachtree St NE and Crescent Ave NE, as well as 13th St NE at the same cross streets, remain closed according to police reports. The Peachtree Walk is also closed to traffic. The Midtown Neighbors Association noted on Instagram that there was a heavy police presence around the residential sections of the hotel building. It remains unclear how this has affected the hotel's guests.

The Atlanta Police Department is expected to provide a detailed update on the situation later in the afternoon. The Four Seasons hotel, a towering 53-story building, includes 90 luxury condominiums aside from its hotel accommodations.

This continues to be a developing story, with further updates anticipated from Atlanta News First.
