**Army and Navy Join College Football Rankings, Oregon Climbs to No. 1**

In a significant shake-up of the college football rankings, undefeated teams Army and Navy have entered the top 25, taking the No. 23 and No. 25 spots, respectively. This is the first time since 1960 that both the Black Knights and the Midshipmen have appeared in the poll simultaneously. The newcomers replaced Oklahoma and Utah, both of whom fell out of the rankings after recent defeats.

Oklahoma, which had been a staple in the rankings since 2022, dropped out following a tough loss to Texas in the Red River Rivalry. Utah, on the other hand, exited the rankings for the first time this season after suffering their second consecutive defeat, this time to Arizona State.

Vanderbilt came close to breaking into the top 25, gathering 68 votes after impressive victories against Alabama and Kentucky. As it stands, they are the first team out of the rankings.

Moving to the top of the rankings, an unexpected shift occurred as Oregon secured the No. 1 spot on the ballot of college sports managing editor, Matt Brown. Despite Texas achieving a significant 31-point win over their rival, Brown's decision was influenced by Oregon's remarkable victory against Ohio State, a team now ranked No. 3. Oregon's previous win over Boise State, ranked 11th behind Heisman Trophy hopeful Ashton Jeanty, also bolstered their standing. Brown hinted that another shift could happen if Texas manages to triumph over Georgia in their upcoming match.

Meanwhile, Penn State achieved its highest ranking since 2017, reaching No. 3. The Nittany Lions' rise is partly attributed to favorable outcomes in other significant games. Although only 23 points ahead of Ohio State, the team has shown prowess with notable victories over West Virginia, USC, and Illinois.

There is, however, some skepticism regarding whether Penn State deserves to be ranked higher than Ohio State and Georgia, considering the latter teams' competitive losses to Oregon and Alabama. Miami, another undefeated team, could also be considered for a higher ranking, given the current voting trends favoring unbeaten records.

Penn State will have the opportunity to validate their ranking on the field when they face Ohio State at home in a few weeks. The Nittany Lions have not defeated the Buckeyes since 2016, making this upcoming game a crucial test for both teams.
