In a bid to ensure the safe transportation of essential items during the Great American Eclipse, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has issued a state of emergency for the state. The governor released funds from the Response and Recovery Fund to assist commercial carriers in delivering goods to customers in Arkansas during the eclipse.

Governor Sanders expressed her concern over the influx of out-of-state travelers and the potential dangers and hardships it might pose to the state. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that both Arkansans and visitors have a positive and enjoyable experience during the celestial event.

To address these concerns, Sanders declared a state of emergency, specifically targeting commercial carriers transporting essential items of commerce, such as groceries, pharmacy items, medical equipment, goods, commodities, fuel, poultry, livestock, and feed. The declaration enables the governor to take necessary actions to alleviate any potential disruptions in the supply chain.

As part of the emergency measures, Governor Sanders directed $100,000 from the Response and Recovery Fund to be used by the Director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management. These funds will be utilized to cover program and administrative costs, ensuring effective coordination and response during this time.

The state of emergency comes as Arkansas gears up for the Great American Eclipse, a highly anticipated celestial event that will attract a large number of visitors to the state. The governor's proactive approach aims to mitigate any challenges that may arise due to increased travel and the subsequent strain on transportation infrastructure.

It is worth noting that the state of emergency will be in effect from now until the conclusion of the eclipse, ensuring that the necessary support and resources are available to handle any potential disruptions. Governor Sanders' swift action demonstrates the state's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors during this unique event.

With these measures in place, Governor Sanders and the state of Arkansas are well-prepared to handle the impacts of the Great American Eclipse and provide a memorable experience for all those attending.
