### Alabama Survives Late Scare to Edge South Carolina 27-25

In a thrilling contest in Tuscaloosa, Alabama managed to fend off a determined South Carolina team with a critical interception in the game’s dying moments, securing a 27-25 victory on Saturday. Despite a shaky onside-kick recovery that gave the Gamecocks a final chance, the Crimson Tide's defense stood firm at the crucial time.

LaNorris Sellers connected with Nyck Harbor for a 31-yard touchdown with only 43 seconds remaining, narrowing the gap. However, the Gamecocks (3-2, 1-3) were unsuccessful in their attempt to convert a two-point play. They quickly regained possession following an onside kick, but Selle'rs desperate throw toward the end zone with 13 seconds left was intercepted by Domani Jackson, sealing the win for Alabama (5-1, 2-1).

Alabama’s Jalen Milroe played a pivotal role in the victory, rushing for a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and later hitting Germie Bernard for a decisive 34-yard score. This late-game heroics allowed the No. 7 ranked Crimson Tide to sidestep what would have been a second straight SEC loss after their recent upset by Vanderbilt.

While Milroe showed moments of brilliance, the game was not without its challenges. He ended the game with 16-of-23 completions for 209 yards, connecting for one touchdown and two rushing scores, but also threw two interceptions and was penalized for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. Nevertheless, facing a critical third-and-10 situation, Milroe’s accurate throw to an unmarked Bernard effectively capped off a 10-play drive, proving decisive.

South Carolina, who led entering the fourth quarter, had hoped to capitalize on Alabama's mistakes. Alex Herrera's 51-yard field goal attempt, which could have shifted momentum, fell short. Earlier, the Gamecocks had gained vital ground before halftime, transforming a 14-0 deficit into a close contest with help from Sellers' touchdown pass to Mazeo Bennett Jr. for a 36-yard score on a crucial fourth-and-9 play.

Sellers completed 23 of 31 passes for 238 yards, with two touchdowns and the critical late interception. His promising performance, particularly following South Carolina's heavy defeat to No. 9 Mississippi, indicated that the Gamecocks had made significant adjustments.

For Alabama, this hard-fought win contrasts sharply with their earlier dominant performances. As they look ahead, the Crimson Tide may still drop in the rankings, reflecting the narrow escape rather than dominance. South Carolina will gear up to face No. 18 Oklahoma on Saturday, Oct. 19, while Alabama prepares for a clash against No. 8 Tennessee on the same day.
