77-Year-Old Man Identified as Victim in Suburban Chicago House Explosion

Authorities have released the name of the 77-year-old man who tragically lost his life in a house explosion that occurred in suburban Chicago on Tuesday. The Lake County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Timothy Toczylowski on Friday evening. Toczylowski was a resident of the home, according to the authorities.

The incident took place at around 8:30 p.m. in Lake Zurich, and first responders swiftly arrived at the scene to find the home completely leveled by the powerful explosion, as reported by the Lake County sheriff's office. Sadly, Toczylowski's lifeless body was discovered amidst the rubble.

Dental records were utilized by officials to positively identify Toczylowski. The cause of the explosion, however, still remains under investigation, as stated by the coroner's office.

Witness Tiffany Koch recalled the terrifying moment when the explosion occurred. She described hearing a loud boom but noted that there was no significant shaking except for a quick second. Koch hurried outside and witnessed the nearby house engulfed in flames.

The community is deeply saddened by the loss of Timothy Toczylowski and authorities are working diligently to determine what caused the tragic explosion. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and loved ones affected by this devastating incident.
