In a tragic turn of events, Alice Wood, a 23-year-old woman, has been convicted of murder on Tuesday after allegedly driving over her fiance, Ryan Watson, and dragging him 500 feet under her vehicle, according to a news release by the Cheshire Police. The incident occurred following an argument between the couple while attending a charity party in May 2022, with Wood accusing Watson of flirting with another woman.

According to witnesses, the confrontation escalated into a dangerous "game of chicken," whereby Wood intentionally used her vehicle as a weapon while under the influence of alcohol. Despite knocking Watson down, she continued driving, dragging him underneath the car. Detective Inspector Nigel Parr expressed his concern, stating, "She knew what she had done, but since then has refused to take accountability for her actions."

Wood, however, denied the accusation and claimed her fiance's death had been a "tragic accident." Surveillance footage released by the police revealed the extent of the incident, showcasing Wood repeatedly driving at Watson until he became trapped beneath the hood of the car.

The couple had been seen talking and consuming alcohol at the charity party they attended on the evening of May 6, 2022, according to police reports. Following their return to Watson's residence, witnesses heard shouting, doors slamming, and the sound of a revving car engine. Subsequently, surveillance footage captured Wood approaching Watson twice with her car, leading to the fatally tragic outcome.

Wood's actions were further incriminated by her failing a breathalyzer test, revealing her impairment at the time of the incident. Upon her arrest, she allegedly told officers, "It's fine, I deserve it."

During the court proceedings, Watson's family expressed their relief at the conviction, stating, "We finally got justice for our beloved son Ryan." They also emphasized that no sentence would fully account for the loss they had suffered and the dreams that Watson would never have the chance to fulfill.

Alice Wood is scheduled to be sentenced on January 29, where the court will determine the appropriate punishment for her conviction of murder.
