Several school districts in North Texas, including Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD, have announced closures for Tuesday due to the ongoing winter weather and below-freezing temperatures. The snowfall experienced in the region on Sunday and Monday is expected to linger as temperatures remain in the upper 20s throughout the day.
As a result, Dallas ISD and Fort Worth ISD were among the districts that made the decision to cancel classes for Tuesday. Most of the school closures were announced between 2 and 3 p.m. on Monday, allowing parents and students to plan ahead.
Meanwhile, the weather for Tuesday is predicted to be dry, with no additional snowfall expected. However, overnight temperatures are expected to plummet to record-lows of 11-12 degrees. With 11 degrees being the current record low, there is a possibility that the temperature could break or tie the previous record.
Notably, the frigid conditions mean that the region will experience below-freezing temperatures for the entire day on Tuesday. This will prolong the presence of the accumulated snow on the ground, creating potential travel hazards and prompting the need for caution.
Residents and students are advised to dress warmly and take necessary precautions to stay safe in the inclement weather. It is important to stay updated with any further announcements or changes in school schedules as the winter weather continues to impact the North Texas region.
The winter weather advisory serves as a reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and prepared during this period of extreme cold, ensuring the well-being and safety of all.
