Nashville, Tenn. - The FOX 17 CODE RED Weather Team has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for several counties in the Plateau area of the Midstate. The advisory, which went into effect on Friday morning, is set to expire on Saturday morning. Residents in these counties can expect the possibility of up to 1" of snowfall.

While Middle Tennessee experienced little to no impact from the winter weather on Friday morning, as snow showers remained in central Kentucky, there was a thin layer of dry air near the surface in Tennessee that limited its reach.

Most Midstate counties can anticipate a light dusting of snow, which should not significantly impact travel or cause major disruptions on the roads. Temperatures in the Nashville area are expected to hover around or slightly above freezing, which will further minimize any potential accumulation or impact.

In the Plateau area, including cities like Crossville and Cookeville, residents can anticipate light rain throughout Friday, with a mix of rain and snow transitioning into snow showers overnight. Up to an inch of snowfall is expected in these areas.

To stay informed about the changing weather conditions, residents are advised to download the FREE FOX 17 Code Red Weather App, available for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

As always, the FOX 17 CODE RED Weather Team remains committed to providing accurate and up-to-date information to help keep residents safe and informed during winter weather events. Stay tuned for further updates on the weather situation in the Midstate.
