In anticipation of a major snowstorm heading towards New Jersey, the National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for 10 counties due to heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions on Tuesday. The latest forecast maps indicate that northern New Jersey and parts of north-central New Jersey will be the primary targets for significant snow accumulation.

The areas expected to be hit hardest by the storm are now expanded, with a wide swath of northern New Jersey and some parts of north-central New Jersey likely to receive between 6 to 12 inches of snow. Some areas are even projected to face as much as 12 to 18 inches of snowfall. These predictions have prompted authorities to issue the winter storm warnings.

As of late Monday afternoon, the affected counties include those under winter weather advisories. While less urgent than a winter storm warning, these advisories serve as a cautionary reminder to drivers about possible hazardous road conditions.

The impending snowstorm has heightened concerns about travel safety. Residents are being urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel, particularly during the peak of the storm. Snowplows and salt trucks are being deployed to keep roads as clear as possible, but drivers are still advised to stay off the roads if possible.

The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the storm's progress and update the public accordingly. It is of utmost importance for residents to stay informed about the changing weather conditions to ensure their safety.
