Chicago experienced another weekend marred by gun violence, as at least 24 people were shot, resulting in four fatalities, according to the Chicago Police Department. The incidents occurred in various neighborhoods across the city, leaving communities grieving and raising concerns over public safety.

On Sunday afternoon, two young boys were discovered shot to death in a South Side alley. The tragedy unfolded in the 800-block of East 89th Place in the Burnside neighborhood at around 2:30 p.m., as confirmed by the Chicago Police Department. Unfortunately, the victims could not be saved and were pronounced dead at the scene by Chicago fire officials.

In a separate incident, a 16-year-old boy lost his life during a shooting inside a home in the Austin neighborhood. The fatal encounter transpired around 8:34 p.m. in the 100-block of North Parkside Avenue. The teenager was involved in a physical altercation with a 33-year-old man, who ultimately shot and killed him. Paramedics declared the teen dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, another 16-year-old boy became a victim of gun violence on Saturday morning in the Belmont Central neighborhood. While walking in the 6300-block of West Belmont Avenue at approximately 6:30 a.m., he was confronted by three individuals in a dark car. Without warning, one of the occupants opened fire, striking the teenager in the leg. The wounded victim managed to transport himself to Community First Medical Center, where he is currently listed in stable condition.

In the early hours of Saturday, a 39-year-old man was shot during an attempted armed robbery in Gage Park. At around 12:30 a.m., the victim was approached by an assailant in the 2500-block of West 56th Street. The perpetrator demanded the man's phone, leading to a scuffle that ended with the victim being shot in the leg. He was discovered inside a parked car and subsequently transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he is in fair condition, as stated by officials.

Tragedy also struck on Friday night when a shooting in Roseland claimed the life of one man and left another critically wounded. Around 10:35 p.m., authorities found two men, aged 26 and 37, with gunshot wounds in the first-block of East 110th Street. The younger victim was shot in the torso and tragically succumbed to his injuries at the University of Chicago Medical Center. The older victim suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and is currently in critical condition at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

These alarming incidents mark yet another violent weekend in Chicago, as community members grapple with the persistent issue of gun violence. Last weekend alone, 15 people were shot, with five losing their lives. The continued occurrence of such events underscores the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address the root causes of violence in the city.
