In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Vice President Kamala Harris emphasized her readiness to serve and highlighted her capacity to lead when questioned about concerns over President Biden's advanced age. However, her remarks have sparked backlash from critics, including members of her own party, who argue that Harris has a track record of failing to accomplish her goals.

A Democratic insider told The Post that Harris should reassess her readiness, particularly after her handling of the border crisis. As the individual tasked with resolving the issue, Harris seemingly faded away from it, leaving Biden exposed. The insider stated, "The disaster we see at our southern border does not inspire confidence, even among Democrats, in her 'capacity to lead.'"

These comments have led some to believe that Harris is subtly signaling that Biden is struggling in his role as president. A Republican strategist claimed that Harris is attempting to convey to Democrat donors and delegates that Biden is unfit for office, and she is ready to step in if needed. The strategist criticized Harris's performance, suggesting that she has worsened various issues, including the border crisis.

Another national GOP strategist urged voters, regardless of party affiliation, to consider the prospect of a Harris presidency as they head to the ballot box. The strategist stated, "Every voter in America, Democrat and Republican, needs to ask themselves if the threat of a Kamala Harris presidency is something they can stomach."

These criticisms come in the wake of a book by journalist Charlie Spiering titled "Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House," which claims that Biden initially preferred Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer as his running mate but ultimately chose Harris due to public pressure.

Harris has defended Biden in the past, asserting that he is intelligent and capable. However, critics argue that the responsibilities delegated to Harris, such as addressing the border crisis, have not yielded positive results, further fueling doubts about her leadership capacity.

In addition to her role in tackling the border crisis, Harris has taken a prominent stance on defending abortion rights, having recently embarked on a nationwide tour on the issue. She has attributed the erosion of these rights to the appointment of conservative Supreme Court justices under the Trump administration.

The latest RealClearPolitics aggregate of polling data indicates that Harris holds a net favorability rating of -19.2 points, while Biden stands at -15.3 points.

As the debate surrounding Harris's readiness and leadership ability intensifies, it remains to be seen how these criticisms will impact her future prospects and public perception.
