Recovery operations are currently in progress after a car drove off a fishing pier in Virginia Beach and became fully submerged in the ocean early Saturday morning, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
At approximately 6:52 a.m. ET, authorities received a distress call regarding the incident at the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier. Responding officers arrived at the scene within minutes and were informed by witnesses that a vehicle had crashed through the wooden pier's gates before plunging into the water.
A video posted on Facebook captured the moment when the car, driving along the pier, abruptly veered off the edge and into the water. By the time authorities reached the site, the vehicle had completely disappeared from view and was not visible from the pier.
