The United States carried out another round of targeted strikes against Iran-backed terrorists on Sunday, marking the third consecutive day of military action. The most recent strike saw a Houthi missile destroyed, which was said to pose an "imminent threat" to Navy ships in the Red Sea. The US Central Command stated that the strike was conducted in self-defense, as the missile, located in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen, endangered the safety of nearby Navy and trade ships.

In response to the strike, a Houthi spokesperson reaffirmed the group's commitment to aiding humanitarian efforts in Gaza and vowed retaliation against the US. Despite the threats, the US Central Command emphasized that the action taken would protect freedom of navigation and enhance the safety of international waters for US Navy vessels and merchant ships.

The recent strike builds upon a series of escalating confrontations between the Houthis and US forces over the past 48 hours. On Saturday, both US and UK forces carried out strikes on at least 30 Houthi targets across 10 different locations in Yemen. These targets included weapons storage facilities and command centers used by the extremist group to coordinate their activities in the Red Sea.

A day earlier, US forces successfully neutralized 11 armed Houthi drones that were either launched or being prepared for launch. These operations coincided with a broader US assault on Iran-linked groups in Iraq and Syria. Over the weekend, overnight airstrikes claimed the lives of at least 39 individuals and injured many more across 85 targets associated with Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

While Tehran has condemned the strikes as violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that these actions are only the beginning of America's response to the recent attack on US service members in Jordan. He confirmed that additional measures will be taken to hold the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its affiliated militias accountable for their attacks on US and Coalition Forces.

"The president has directed additional actions to defend the United States, our forces, and our interests," Secretary Austin declared in a statement. As tensions escalate in the region, the US remains committed to taking all necessary actions to ensure the safety and security of its military personnel and assets.

The situation continues to unfold, and the international community remains attentive to the developments between the US, Iran-backed groups, and their respective allies.
