In a tragic and shocking incident, a 23-year-old United Kingdom student, Alice Wood, has been found guilty of murder for dragging her fiancé, Ryan Watson, under her car during a heated argument. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday after a three-week trial at Chester Crown Court in Cheshire.

The incident took place on May 6, 2022, when Wood spotted Watson "clicking" with another woman at a party, leading to a fierce confrontation. Witnesses described the altercation as a twisted game of "chicken." Wood repeatedly struck Watson with her Ford Fiesta, dragging him for a horrifying distance of over 500 feet.

Surveillance footage played a crucial role in the trial, which contradicted Wood's claims of the incident being a tragic accident. The footage captured Wood getting into her car, revving the engine, and reversing toward Watson multiple times. Eventually, she struck him deliberately, causing him to go under the car. Despite the severity of the situation, Wood continued driving for over 500 feet with Watson's body wedged beneath the vehicle.

The court revealed that both Wood and Watson had been under the influence of alcohol leading up to the argument. Wood's subsequent failure of a roadside breath test strengthened the case against her.

Paramedics, unfortunately, pronounced Watson dead at the scene. Upon her arrest, Wood expressed a disturbing self-awareness, saying, "It's fine, I deserve it."

Watson's grieving family, in a statement to the police, expressed their gratitude that justice had been served. They spoke fondly of their son, highlighting his accomplishments during his tragically shortened life of 24 years. The family also described the harrowing experience of watching CCTV footage showing their son being hit by Wood's car and dragged along the road.

Wood is scheduled to be sentenced on January 29, leaving her to face the consequences of her appalling actions. The severity of this case highlights the devastating consequences of actions taken in moments of extreme anger and the importance of handling disagreements responsibly and peacefully.
