U.S. Activist and Comedian Found Dead with Multiple Stab Wounds in Colombia

In a shocking development, the body of Tou Ger Xiong, a prominent U.S. activist and comedian, was discovered in a ravine in Colombia with over a dozen stab wounds. The 50-year-old Asian American man from Woodbury, Minnesota, had allegedly been kidnapped and held for ransom before being brutally murdered.

According to reports, Xiong was visiting Colombia on vacation and had arranged to meet a woman he had connected with on social media. However, after their meeting, he was abducted by a group of men. Xiong managed to contact a friend, informing them that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of $2,000 for his release. He also divulged that he was being held at gunpoint.

The situation took a grim turn when Xiong's body was discovered in the water of a ravine in La Corcovada, northwest of Medellín. The autopsy revealed multiple stab wounds, as well as blunt force trauma and bruises consistent with a fall from a height of over 60 feet. Authorities are investigating whether Xiong's attempted escape may have prompted the kidnappers to kill him.

In the midst of this tragedy, Xiong's brother, Eh Xiong, spoke out about the brutal circumstances surrounding his brother's death. He revealed that Tou Ger Xiong had suffered blunt force trauma to the head and had been "tossed over a bridge" by his captors. Authorities have apprehended one of the alleged kidnappers, providing some hope for justice.

Tou Ger Xiong was known for his vibrant personality and dedication to making positive changes in society. A graduate of Carleton College with a degree in political science, he tirelessly worked to bridge cultures and advocate for marginalized communities. Xiong's family and friends described him as the life and soul of every gathering, someone who selflessly helped others, even at his own expense.

In honor of his legacy, Xiong's family is in the process of creating a foundation in his name. Through this foundation, they aim to provide scholarships and assistance to those in need, continuing Xiong's mission of serving the community.

Tou Ger Xiong, of Hmong descent, held a special connection to his heritage and sought to educate others about the Hmong culture. He co-founded organizations such as the Community Action Against Racism and the Hmong American Partnership, amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. Xiong's father had served with the CIA, and the family had to flee Laos after the communist takeover in 1975.

His contributions and dedication were recognized when he was named a Bush Foundation fellow in 2019, a testament to his commitment to creating positive change.

The news of Xiong's tragic death has reverberated through the community, prompting an outpouring of grief and support. Senator Amy Klobuchar expressed her sadness over the loss and offered her office's assistance in bringing Xiong's body back to Minnesota.

As authorities continue their investigation, the memory of Tou Ger Xiong will live on, his impact on society remembered as his loved ones honor his legacy by continuing his work to uplift and advocate for those in need.
