Two People Missing After Vehicle Swept Away by Flood Waters in Mexico, Maine

The incident occurred when a vehicle carrying four people was attempting to cross the Red Bridge into Rumford from Mexico around 5 p.m. on Monday.
According to officials, the driver of the vehicle made an attempt to turn around when they encountered rising flood waters in the Swift River. Unfortunately, the force of the water swept the vehicle away, leaving three of the occupants able to escape. However, one individual, as well as the person who wasn't able to get out, is still missing.
The two individuals who managed to be rescued were promptly taken to a hospital, where they received treatment for hypothermia. Their current condition, however, has not been disclosed.
In response to the incident, a joint search operation involving the Maine Warden Service, Maine State Police, and the Mexico Police Department is currently underway. The authorities have refrained from releasing the names or any other identifying information of the missing individuals at this time.
Authorities have issued a plea to the public, urging residents to respect road closures and to avoid entering flooded areas. Multiple roads in Mexico, including residential areas, have been closed due to the flooding.
