Two Killed in Tragic Three-Vehicle Collision on US Highway 11 in Gouverneur

Gouverneur, New York - A devastating three-vehicle collision on US Highway 11 in the Town of Gouverneur resulted in the loss of two lives on Friday morning. The incident, which occurred around 8:15 a.m., involved a tractor-trailer, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, and a Toyota Rav4.

According to the New York State Police, the tractor-trailer, driven by 29-year-old Sardor Asatulleav of Brooklyn, veered into the opposite lane of US Highway 11. Asatulleav's truck first sideswiped a white 2018 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck before colliding head-on with a gray 2017 Toyota Rav4.

Tragically, the driver of the Toyota Rav4, identified as 47-year-old Joshua Amo from Ogdensburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gonzalo Ramirez-Zuniga, a 67-year-old passenger from Potsdam, also lost his life and was later pronounced deceased at Gouverneur Hospital. Another passenger in the Rav4, Rosa Maria-Solis, 56, also from Potsdam, sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, Steven Kruppenbacher, 53, from Oak Field, fortunately, escaped uninjured during the collision.

Following the incident, the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU), Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Traffic Incident Management (TIMS), and Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) promptly responded to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision.

State Police received valuable assistance from the Gouverneur Fire and Rescue, State DOT, and St. Lawrence County Coroner in managing the aftermath of the tragic accident.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, as authorities work diligently to determine the factors contributing to this devastating incident on US Highway 11.
