In the early hours of Sunday morning, a tragic incident unfolded in Philadelphia's Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, leaving two people dead and four others injured in the city's first mass shooting of the year. The shooting occurred on the 2400 block of N. Myrtlewood Street.

According to Philadelphia Police Department Captain Christopher Bradshaw, officers responded to a report of a shooting just before 1 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered three men with gunshot wounds. Sadly, a 53-year-old man who had been shot in the head was pronounced dead by first responders.

Shortly after, a 41-year-old man who had sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and thigh was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 1:13 a.m. Another individual, a 42-year-old man who had been shot in the hand, was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.

During the ongoing investigation, authorities learned that a 22-year-old woman had been shot in the right leg, a 28-year-old man had sustained three gunshot wounds to the leg and hip, and a 33-year-old woman had been shot twice in the left arm. These individuals arrived at local hospitals in private vehicles and are all listed in stable condition.

The incident appears to have taken place at an illegally operating speakeasy at a residence on the block. Captain Bradshaw revealed that the suspected gunman allegedly fired at least ten shots during the shooting. Authorities found ten shell casings at the scene.

Law enforcement officials believe that the shooter stood in the street and fired through the front door and window into the speakeasy. No arrests have been made at this time, and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.
