In a recent report, Special Counsel Jack Smith's investigation has unveiled fresh details surrounding former President Donald Trump's response to the Capitol riot on January 6. The investigation has shed light on Trump's indifference towards the safety of his Vice President, Mike Pence, according to sources.

Trump aide Nick Luna provided valuable information to Smith's team regarding the moment when Trump was informed about Pence being moved to a secure location, as unrest grew within the Capitol. Shockingly, the then-president's alleged response was simply, "So what?" Luna, taken aback by Trump's lack of concern, highlighted Pence's loyalty to Trump throughout the years.

During the riot, the mob chanted threats against Pence, as he hesitated to adhere to Trump's requests to reject certification of the 2020 election results. This further underscores Trump's disregard for his Vice President's safety.

Furthermore, the investigation revealed testimony from Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, who told federal investigators that Trump "was just not interested" in intervening to halt the escalating violence. It was reported that Trump's anger on that day stemmed primarily from his dissatisfaction with the election results, rather than concern for the wellbeing of the Capitol building and those present. Scavino believed Trump's reaction to be deeply unsettling.

Despite attempts by aides to persuade Trump to take action, they ultimately decided to give him space. During this time alone, Trump took to Twitter and posted a now-infamous tweet directed at Pence, criticizing his lack of courage to protect the country and the Constitution. Shocked by the post, staff members approached Scavino, only to be met with his denial of authorship.

Hours later, in a phone conversation with Scavino, Trump was reportedly reminded of the gravity of the situation, with Scavino conveying, "This is all your legacy here, and there's smoke coming out of the Capitol."

Witnesses who testified to the January 6 House Select Committee recounted that Trump was watching the events unfold on TV from the dining room of the Oval Office. They also highlighted his hours-long refusal to intervene.

The January 6 House panel's final report squarely places blame on former President Donald Trump as the central cause of the Capitol attack, with many individuals following his lead.

These revelations have emerged as part of Smith's investigation into Trump's alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and the events leading up to the riot. The probe continues as more evidence is uncovered.
