In a devastating incident in Far Rockaway, Queens, four people, including two children, have lost their lives in a stabbing that occurred on Sunday morning. Two police officers who responded to the scene were also injured, and a fire broke out in the home where the incident took place. The suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon, is dead.

According to the New York City Police Department Chief Jeffrey Maddrey, authorities received a 911 call shortly after 5 a.m. from a young female caller who reported that her cousin was attacking her family members. Upon arrival at the residential block in Queens, the officers noticed someone leaving the premises with luggage. As they approached, the individual pulled out a kitchen steak knife and stabbed one officer in the neck and chest, while the other officer was struck in the head.

In response, one of the officers drew his weapon and fired at the suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon. Gordon was then transported to a hospital but was later pronounced dead. The injured officers were taken to a hospital as well but are expected to recover from their non-life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately, the tragedy did not end there. An 11-year-old girl, who was found in front of the house, had succumbed to her injuries. Fire officials reported that a fire had broken out in the living room and foyer, initially preventing the police from entering the home. However, the fire was quickly extinguished, and upon investigation, three more victims were discovered inside the house. They were identified as a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. It is believed that all four died from stab wounds.

Additionally, a 61-year-old female is currently in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital, as reported by Joseph Kenny, NYPD Chief of Detectives.

Courtney Gordon, the suspect in the case, had a previous arrest for a strangulation domestic violence incident in the Bronx, where he resided. The police are still conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, which appears to be family-related.

As the investigation continues, the officers involved in responding to the call are hailed as heroes for their brave actions in apprehending the suspect, despite the risks they faced. The community is left mourning the loss of four lives, including the young children, in this devastating act of violence.

Authorities are currently interviewing the 911 caller to gather more information about the incident.
